Listen to the Eggs and Bakey breakfast weekdays seven to ten ante meridian with your genial host Andy the Angry, (not that angry really, unless provoked or you are a politician). To rattle the cage telephone studio 350 4994, experience true democracy!
Eggs and Bakey features juicy bits such as: the Seven Thirty Sizzler, (a tasty treat full of musical protein to get you through your morning).
The News at eight, (sourced from the seediest of underground contacts).
Vinyl From The Vault, (a prime selection of antique analogness sourced from the depths of the Control catacombs).
Sound off, (one song performed by numerous different artists, proving songs have independent existence, you decide which version floats your rocket).
This Day In History, (meaningless random births, deaths and events connected only by the current date)!
The Investigation, (in conjunction with this lovely publication Chaff , cutting edge thoroughly researched investigations into issues relevant to YOU. Currently the best value two dollar mixture).
All this plus the usual selection of tuneful tasty goodness good for being still half asleep to when the sparrows are still farting.
See and hear the Control Sound System live to air on concourse most common lunchbreaks, Wednesdays 12 noon to 2pm. Annoying people in the library since forever!
Shameless plug - Local representatives of imbibment Turbostill have released their latest studio recording Liquid Rock n' Roll. If you are into a bit of dirty local musical goodness well worth checking out, www.slave.co.nz or www.myspace.com/turbostill nice.
Sticking to the local theme, when cruising down George Street being all bohemian on it, be sure to check out Palm de Ville's finest independent purveyor of audio logical satisfaction Mango Music. Cant be beaten for all who are sick of the dehumanizing, alienating experience that is finding that obscure album upon the intermanet. Perambulate into a real life, three dimensional space. Start an animated musical discussion with the friendly staff. It may cost that little bit extra but considering the all too rare interaction with a knowledgeable real life human being, cheap at half the price.
Choice,
Control

Animal rights
Thismorning Champagne Breakfast host Andy had a VERY interesting conversation with one of the world's most well-respected animal rights activists Dr. Martin Balluch. Dr. Balluch spent four and a half months in an Austrian prison after he and other activists were wrongly accused of belonging to 'a criminal organisation'. He staged a hunger-strike during his prison stay, from which he collapsed and had to be artificially fed.
He is currently touring the country talking to animal rights activists before speaking about strategies for social change in a democracy at a conference in Auckland. To hear his amazing story or to learn more about animal rights follow these links:

KORA! KORA! KORA!
We've known for many years that KORA are one of the best live acts, if not THE best act, in the country. Now their reputation is about to be cemented as one of the best live acts in the WORLD.
LEGENDARY british electronic pioneers Cabaret Voltaire were so mind-blown by the intensity of Kora's live show they have come out of a FIFTEEN YEAR RETIREMENT to put their own touch on Kora's platinum-selling debut album Kora, with a remix album called Kora! Kora! Kora!
The British press have been unanimous in declaring this album an unequivocal surrealist masterpiece. - Border Music
This is HUGE news for Kora as their music will reach global markets unimagineable to most bands, let alone KIWI bands!
Kora! Kora! Kora! will be available in New Zealand from March 30th. In the meantime you can check out a preview of the album HERE. Congrats boys!

Victorian Bushfires appeal
As much as we claim to 'despise' Australians, they are family. And when family calls...we answer. Please think about donating to one the following appeals in order to help those devastated by Australia's biggest ever natural disaster.
As raging bushfires devastate parts of the Australian state Victoria, the Australian Red Cross is providing first aid and support to victims and emergency services.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army has emergency service teams in many of the emergency relief centres across the state, with officers and staff helping accommodate evacuees and providing meals, clothing and other essentials. It is also providing grants for those hardest hit.

Another cover...bbbbrrrrrother!
Since quality CD releases are thinner than the Massey dining hall
line at this time of year, Radio Control has to dig a little deeper to
unearth the the essential CDs of the always-quiet first quarter. But deep-digging is richly rewarded with some truely HEROIC releases, such as this one: War Child: Heroes.
Due out mid-late Feb., it's the covers album that's redefining 'covers album'.
15 music ICONS have chosen a classic track from their back catalogue and nominated a modern-day group or artist OF THEIR OWN CHOSING to cover it! So we will hear the versions these legends themselves want to hear...not just some crummy tribute.
Bob Dylan had picked Beck to cover 'Leopard-Skin Pill-Box hat'; Peaches drops her take on Iggy Pops 'Sear
chnd Destroy'; and Hot Chip cover Joy Division's 'Transmission'.
Click on the image above for the full track list, updates and song previews.

90's REVIVAL
The era of flat-tops and fake abs; Hawiian shirts and hollaing "JUMANJI!", there was little, or no saving the 90s...until now! New Zealand electro-poppers Charlie Ash have injected some credibility back in to the era with a smashingly playful re-working of Colour Me Badd's 1991 'classic' I Wanna Sex You Up. Part of the latest BuffetLibre compilation, this track is available for free download from: http://www.buffetlibredjs.net/
Other 90's 'anthems' that have been covered by modern bands especially for the free-download compiliation include:
New Kids On The Block - Step by Step
Weezer - Buddy Holly (by NZ band Little Pictures!)
Marcy Playground - Sex and Candy
The Prodigy - Everybody in the Place

SUSTAIN & SAVE
With the phrase "Sustainable Living" hitting us from all directions like a battle royale in candle light, The Champagne Breakfast decided to find out just how much our work (and home!) appliances are costing to run! Check results here : http://www.consumer.org.nz/topic.asp?category=Appliances&subcategory=Prices%20%26%20reliability&docid=2316&topic=Appliance%20running%20costs&title=Running%20costs&contenttype=summary&bhcp=1
That outrageously long link probably costs a fair bit to run!!! So here are some shorter ones, including a great Eco-Friendly festival in the South Island called "Luminate '09"

CHAMPAGNE & TOASTED SANDWICHES
Not your typical mix, but The Champagne Breakfast isn't your typical breakfast show! This week Andy's giving away a DOUBLE PASS to Toasted Sandwiches in Wellington NEW YEARS EVE!!!
Out of the club and down to the waterfront, Wellington's Sandwiches is throwing a good old fashion warehouse party with their good friends Concord Dawn, Minuit and BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe (formerly of Breaks Co-Op!) - TOASTED SANDWICHES!
Since filthy beats are on the bill for this massive event, filthy toasted sandwiches are on the bill for this week's Champagne Breakfast! To be in to WIN A DOUBLE PASS, email your filthiest toasted sandwich recipe to studio@radiocontrol.co.nz.
Each day during the Champagne Breakfast (7am-10am) Andy will pick the filthiest suggestion (three food ingredients max please!) and will serve up the barely-edible options to a brave soul on-air Friday who will pick a winner...after they've finished throwing up!
This New Years party WILL sell out! So get your recipes in!!!
